#Make It Happen 2019 #Centrepoint

Wow we have had such a busy year here at aka where have the months gone. Sorry if we haven’t been in touch as much as we would have liked it has just been crazy taking vacancies; it was a hundred miles an hour here – just as we like it.

I am so lucky that we have such a happy team and when things get busy they are happy to work over if you have great staff you have a great business and that applies to me

We have had so many grateful job hunters and an office full of chocolates, fizz (they know us well) and thank you cards. The job satisfaction is immense as it is important that we find you the right job.

December is a time to celebrate but also show compassion to people who are not as fortunate as we are. This year we have donated to many lots of local charities and again to CenterPoint to help homeless people and as every year  Kirkwood Hospice in lieu of cards and gifts.

We have a fab new addition to our team Lauren who has hit the ground running she is an absolute natural and bring with her extensive recruitment knowledge couple with her training background .

Whatever your plans are at Christmas enjoy the time you spend with friends and family – have a fantastic Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019 remember we look forward in helping you find top notch employees or a fantastic job.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! It’s been crazy busy here since we started back at work last week with lots of recruiters looking for staff to join their expanding team. We have had a record number of job hunters many who have only registered with us here at aka who have decide this is the year to find a fab new job.

I don’t know how your New Year started, if you made any resolutions? Do you feel ready and raring to go after a New Year / New You or do you feel stuck in a rut and need some TLC – if so you have come to the right place.

Get a sheet of paper and make a list of what changes you want to make in 2018 make it realistic and don’t feel bad if there are just two or twenty things on the list. Then focus on how you can make these happen because we can’t just wait for this to miraculously occur we have to put the work in too. If you want a new job its easy email your favourite recruitment agency (better be us!) and we can help with the rest – call and meet one of our team and we will help you with the hard part – then when it comes to interviews we will help you there too, invisibly holding your hand at interviews etc. If you want to be healthier make a list of what you are eating/drinking then try and substitute anything with a high fat content or sugar with healthier options – little changes can make a big difference. It is so essential to incorporate exercise into your life, even half an hour walking can have amazing health benefits. We believe in the power of positive thinking and making time for your wellbeing. If your social life is lacking there are lots of clubs – tennis, keep fit, cookery, wine making, kids footy, whatever your hobbies are the club quickly becomes more than just that. I had a ladies night recently and when I looked at the guest list it was people I had met through social activities – don’t be afraid to get in touch with old friends too

Remember positive thinking, believe in yourself anything is possible it is up to you.
Have the best ever 2018 – find something to do that you love :)

December – Merry Christmas

We have had such a busy year here at aka where have the months gone. Sorry if we haven’t been in touch as much as we would have liked it has just been crazy taking vacancies; it was a hundred miles an hour here – just as we like it.

We are so lucky that we have such a happy stable team Kirsty, Pamela and Jan have worked here over ten years, Hollie four years and Emma joined us last year but has fitted in so well.

We have had so many grateful job hunters and an office full of chocolates, fizz (they know us well) and thank you cards. The job satisfaction is immense as it is important that we find you the right job.

December is a time to celebrate but also show compassion to people who are not as fortunate as we are. This year we have donated to many lots of local charities and again to Kirkwood Hospice in lieu of cards and gifts.

September

This month we are very busy at aka recruitment in August when a little quieter we relooked at all our systems and where required made a few changes as it is important we are super-efficient.

If you have done the same job the same way for years why not look at what you do and see if you can make any changes to make your work life easier. We have done this and it’s amazing how many things we do because we have always done it that way.

So many people are working longer hours than required and don’t have a great work life balance – if you feel this is you it is important that you are working efficiently as small changes can make a big difference to cutting back on those extra unnecessary hours.

If your circumstances have changed, maybe your kids have gone to school or university and you feel this is your time to explore work options, why not contact my team here at aka. Send your cv to me first kathy@a-ka.co.uk and we can advise you on a new career path. We have just placed a local job hunter who had worked in a local school for over ten years and was ready for a new challenge into a commercial buzzing sales office. There is nothing like a new challenge to give you back your mojo

We as you may know love raising money for charity in July and August we have been supporting  a campaign to help the fight against Lyme disease.

Hollie, our consultant here at aka, has a friend Kelly who started a lovely little campaign about kindness, it’s called #spreadalittlesunshine. I want to remind people how easy it is and how good it feels to be kinder to one another.  With everything that’s going on in the world right now we seem to have forgotten that we are really good at this.

So to get your attention and to coax you into action and get this big ball of loveliness rolling…..her act of kindness was to complete 26 marathons in 26 days to raise £60,000 for a friend called Sol (sunshine in Spanish) who is suffering from chronic Lyme disease following a tick bite in the UK.  She is desperately ill and needs Stem Cell Treatment, this is her only HOPE and she wants to help her.

A grand gesture as far acts of kindness go you might say, but whether you complete marathons, give blood, help someone or simply smile at folk more often, together we can inspire change and make a real difference, to Sol’s life, to your life and to everyone else’s lives too.

Last but not least we are holding our McMillan coffee morning on Friday 29th September 9.30am-2.00pm – we would love you to join us for coffee and cakes and help raise money for this amazing charity

Bring on a Summer of Fun

As you probably know by now us aka ladies are never happier than when the sun is shining and even better if we have a glass of fizz too.

The news has been full of tragedy and it leaves you feeing desperately sad (please donate where possible to all affected charities & download the amazing remake of bridge over troubled waters).

Times of sadness make you take stock of your life and reflect on what you have achieved and how happy you are as you only get one chance here on earth :)

Make a list of what makes you happy about your life and what needs changing and take action today!

Get fit, be healthy, have more time for yourself, take up a new hobby, declutter your wardrobe, declutter negative friends who bring you down, find a new job (we can help with the last one) whatever is on your list look at ways of making any necessary changes as even a small change can make a big difference to your health and outlook.

Change can be scary but it can be so positive and it is so easy to be stuck in a rut whilst life passes you by.

No matter how busy you are inject some fun into your work day and home life. Take a break don’t just sit in front of the computer in your lunch break, go out and get some fresh air. Turn of the TV (if like us you love your telly) and go for a walk and appreciate your surroundings. Remember work has to be very important but luckily many of us don’t work within life and death situations so appreciate the good things in life.

Fly High, Follow Your Dreams

Wow it has been so busy here at aka recruitment and as one of our mottos is “work hard play hard” we are just back from a wonderful sunshine break to Ibiza – It is always great to get away and have time to reflect on life and what changes need to be made if you don’t feel you have the balance right.

Many job hunters seek alternative employment not because of the money or the fact that they don’t love the job it is because they don’t feel that their hard work is appreciated. It doesn’t cost anything to say thank you to your employees if it is validated for their efforts. If they work over, if busy or cover for holidays, never take sick days and do over and above the call of duty – remember a few kind words can make a big difference.

If you work somewhere and feel underappreciated, make sure you speak to your line manager when you have your annual appraisal as they may not be aware that they are not communicating their appreciation of you. So many people leave it too late to start job hunting without even giving their current employer the chance to rectify the situation.

Sadly 75% of people are afraid to believe in themselves and don’t want to risk a new challenge or change in career direction. We are at work such a huge part of our lives it is important that we enjoy our work – if you feel that you are in a rut – speak to one of our career consultants here at aka we won’t just find you any job we promise to listen to your requirements and match you up accordingly. We help with CV’s, interviews advice, make sure you get feedback after your interview – it is the full package free of charge to you. This is why all we ask is that you recommend any job hunting friends to us and we reward you with ££ for each one placed.

TC until next time :)

Job Hunting Advice

We have had a record number of candidates offered jobs recently, many absolutely desperate to leave and most have snapped up the offer, but a few have then had their minds changed only to sadly regret it and wish they had left – unfortunately that job isn’t around and it’s a double blow.

So I thought it may help if I compiled a dos and don’ts of job hunting a few things for you to read and hopefully reassure you and let you know you are not on your own, we are here for you every step of the way.

Firstly, and most importantly NEVER job hunt after a row with a boss or colleague always sleep on it and then if necessary speak to the person in question and talk it though and resolve things.

It is likely you have mixed emotions as even though you were job hunting for whatever reason now the time is here to hand your notice in and this is where we find on occasion some job hunters have a wobble as it can be intimidating – try and remember why you started job hunting in the first place.

If you don’t feel this way and are delighted with your offer – good for you that is absolutely how you should feel – a new challenge working for a fantastic successful company. Open that fizz and celebrate!

If the company where you are working offers you more money – ask yourself why didn’t they do this in the first place if they truly value you. They should have paid you this in the first place.

They promise you the earth training courses, better work conditions, a kinder boss etc.  – As above why not do this before and sadly we find that this can be just false promises.

You may have a friend who you have lunch with or go to the pub after work and cutting these ties can be sad but remember this will happen again with time.

If we had a pound for candidates who give back word for the above reasons and then weeks later are back looking seriously regretting not accepting the position that has since been filled by another lucky job hunter. The job hunters who are unsure but decided to go for it always ring thanking us for our reassurance and it’s the best thing they ever did.

Put your notice in writing – let me know if you need help with this and stick to your guns, check your contract of employment for your notice period so you give only this. Some companies will let you use holidays to reduce this.

Remember the company you are going to have paid a fee to use our expertise, this is a permanent job and it could open up so many doors.

Kindly recommend any job hunting friends to aka for ££ when placed and follow us on twitter
